the story of John the baptist in writing and icons

SPR’s summer Arts and Writing Camp will be based upon the Gospel Story of John the Baptist, the forerunner of Jesus, whose feast day is celebrated the Sunday after the camp concludes (June 24).  Participants will produce an icon of the story of John the Baptist, visit the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and the Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis to examine what makes sacred art, and do some intentional writing to re-tell the story in their own words.  The icons will be displayed to the congregation on Sunday, June 24 (The Nativity of St. John the Baptist).

The day camp runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, June 19-21;

The camp is open to children 4th - 8th grade;

The cost of the camp is $50, but we do not turn anyone away because of cost.  Scholarships are available, and you can learn more about this by e-mailing Sr. Stacie Lightner, by clicking here.
